Originally constructed in 1931 as Bethany Presbyterian Church, the building served as a gathering place for generations of Silver Lake residents during a period of significant growth and change across Los Angeles.
Over the decades, it evolved alongside the neighborhood itself, taking on a range of community, cultural, and commercial lives: an early home to East West Players, one of the nation's first Asian American theater companies; a place of worship for later congregations; and, in time, an antique market that filled the former sanctuary with objects and histories of their own.

Defined by its Romanesque Revival architecture, stained glass windows, soaring sanctuary, and prominent corner location at Griffith Park Boulevard and Lucile Avenue, the building has remained a recognizable fixture within Silver Lake for nearly a century.
Today, it enters its next chapter as Hotel Lucile, carrying forward a legacy of gathering, exchange, and continual renewal.
